Oktoberfest is Here

Nashville’s 36th Annual Oktoberfest takes place this weekend in Germantown, beginning Friday evening.

Organizers estimate that more than 100,000 people will attend the three-day festival.

Friday’s events begin with a block party in front of the Christie Cookies bakery on 3rd Ave North, followed by a parade through Germantown.

On Saturday morning, a 5-K race called the Bier Run begins at 8 a.m.

The festival continues Sunday with food from more than 25 vendors and at least 20 different types of beer for sale. Also on is the “Pup Parade” where participants are encouraged to dress their dogs in costume.

The “Dachshund Dash,” also known as the Weiner Dog Race, takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Oktoberfest activities include a kid’s zone, craft fair, beer slide, zipline, and the “Battle of the Bands.”

Admission to Oktoberfest is free. (continue reading)
