Former Councilman Admits Publicly About TSU What Everyone Else Knows

A former Metro Council member referred to TSU not as Tennessee State University, but as “Thug State University” during a radio show on Monday morning.

Monday marked the first full week of heightened security at Tennessee State University after a deadly shooting on campus last week.

One man was killed and three students were wounded in the shooting last Thursday. The suspects remained on the run Monday.

This comes after a deadly shooting that happened on TSU’s campus on Thursday night.

The Metro Nashville Police Department says they believe two gunmen were firing at a third person after a dice game turned violent in the outside courtyard of the Floyd-Payne Campus Center.

A non-student, 19-year-old Cameron Selmon, was killed.

Three female students, who were all bystanders, were also hit.

On Friday, three walking teams of Metro police officers began patrolling campus.

Metro PD says some students have come forward with cellphone video of the shooting, but they know there are other students with video who have yet to come forward.

Former Metro Council member Jerry Maynard called for an overhaul on 92-Q.

“Now is the time, Dr Glover. You need to clean house, excuses are over. At the end of the day, forget accreditation. If you can’t protect babies, if you can’t protect kids from being shot, you having dice games played on your courtyard, you’re not TSU, you’re Thug State University. And if you’re gonna be Thug State University, people are not going to send their kids there,” he said. (continue reading at WSMV)
