Lots of Options for the Titans

After a long season that showcased the potential of rookie QB Marcus Mariota, and just how far the Titans need to go to build a playoff contender, Tennessee secured the No. 1 overall draft pick following a 3-13 campaign. So, which current college star should the Titans add on Thursday night this spring? It’s more complicated that you might think.

The timing of having the first pick makes all the difference in the world. The Kansas City Chiefs went 2-14 in 2012, earning the first pick, but there was no overwhelming top candidate in that class so they tabbed Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher. The addition of Brian Orakpo didn’t really pay massive dividends but he’s really the only edge threat the team has. The secondary was much improved but the Titans could use a true lockdown corner opposite Perrish Cox and an upgrade at the safety position with a play-making ball hawk in the middle of the field. Although Avery Williamson and Wesley Woodyard consistently make tackles all over the field, the Titans need a thumper at inside linebacker, no matter whether they’re in a 3-4 or 4-3.
