Attorney General to Waste Taxpayer Money Investigating Durham Text Messages

A special legislative committee sparked by a Tennessee lawmaker’s alleged inappropriate texts has authorized the state attorney general to investigate.

The committee appointed by House Speaker Beth Harwell met briefly to pass a resolution authorizing the investigation of the allegations made by female legislative personnel against Williamson County Rep. Jeremy Durham.

Durham, who represents part of Franklin, resigned his leadership post as House Majority Whip last month after the sexual harassment allegations became public.

He also took temporary leave of absence from the legislature in late January.
