Lt. Gov. Ramsey to Retire

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey has announced he will not be seeking re-election this November.

Ramsey’s term as Speaker of the Senate will expire in January 2017.

Ramsey, R-Blountville, spoke about his decision on the Senate floor on Wednesday morning.

He said he wants to commit more time to his growing family, including his five grandchildren.

“After a lot of prayer and many sleepless nights, I have determined that I simply cannot commit to another four years in office,” Ramsey said.
