Hermitage Stinks-Literally

Residents in Hermitage are complaining that the area stinks.

Homeowners in the Meadows at Seven Points neighborhood say they keep getting strong wafts of sewage, and recently it’s been getting worse.

“We can’t even sit outside and enjoy our deck because of the smell,” said resident Sharon Donoho. “My husband is like, ‘Let’s just sell and leave,’ but I don’t want to.”
The main source of the complaints are customers at Jackson Downs shopping center and the Meadows at Seven Points. News 2 found out there are two different sources of the smell.

At a meeting Tuesday night, the homeowners association along with Metro Water Services and Councilman Steve Glover told homeowners they’re getting hit from two different places.

The first is Percy Priest Lake. A naturally-occurring algae can at times, like when the water is low, produce a smell like rotten eggs.
