First Zika Virus Victim in Nashville Identified

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed the first case of a human testing positive for the Zika virus in Davidson County.

The Metro Public Health Department received confirmation Tuesday.

The infected individual recently returned to Nashville after traveling to Honduras where Zika disease is being transmitted by mosquitoes, according to Metro health officials.

They are expected to recover from the illness.
