Absurd State Regulations Lead to Lawsuit

A lawsuit disputing a Tennessee law requiring a license in order to shampoo a person’s hair will move forward.

The suit filed by the Beacon Center of Tennessee on behalf of multiple plaintiffs against the Board of Cosmetology says the license requirement is unconstitutional.

Beacon Center representatives say the state tried to get the case dismissed but a judge disagreed and the case will continue. In a statement release, the Beacon Center says “In denying the state’s request to throw out the suit, Chancellor Carol McCoy stated that she has never heard of any safety issues with shampooing.
