Cookeville Cops Keeping Citizens Safe From Pot Brownies

She had homemade baked goods in her vehicle, but she was no Betty Crocker.

A 26-year-old Cookeville woman, in fact, was arrested when a Cookeville police officer discovered marijuana was the special ingredient in her brownies and cookies.

Amanda Wills, whose address was listed as Lee Avenue, was charged in the incident with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver.

According to a report by Cookeville Police Officer Dustin Hensley, he initiated a traffic stop on a blue Mercury Cougar driven by Wills around 6:30 Sunday evening when he noticed one of the vehicle headlights out.

“After approaching the vehicle, I made contact with the driver, Amanda Wills. While Ms. Wills was retrieving her paperwork, I noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” the officer reports.

Officer Hensley said he requested that Wills step out of the car to speak with him, and she complied.
