Clarksville Police:  Taking Photos in Public Now a Crime

A Clarksville man was arrested Tuesday after a frightened woman told police he followed her around a Clarksville store for 20 minutes apparently taking photos of her.

Clarksville Police arrived at Hobby Lobby at 11:21 a.m. and met the woman at the front of the Wilma Rudolph Boulevard store. She was very upset and crying and told police that a man she didn’t know followed her through the store and she could hear sounds from his phone as if he were taking pictures of her, according to an arrest warrant.

She described the suspect, a white male wearing a dark ball cap and glasses, and officers spotted a suspect near the checkout area with a cellphone in his hands.

The suspect saw the officers and began walking away and “manipulating his cellphone.”

The officers asked him if he had been photographing females in the store, but he denied the allegation.
