Williamson County Still Fastest Growing in the State

The Nashville metro area gained an average of 96 residents every day from 2013 to 2014, according to a new batch of U.S. Census Bureau data.
Dive in, and you discover that those population rankings are a fresh reminder than when we all talk about the growth of “Nashville,” that shorthand belies the breadth of a region-wide population surge.

In fact, of any county in the entire state, Williamson County grew the fastest from 2013 to 2014. Williamson added 6,325 residents (17 every day), for a gain of 3.18 percent, which was good for 17th fastest-growing county in the nation.

Those gains show the net difference between newborns and people relocating here, versus deaths and people moving out.
Next came Wilson County (35th fastest) and Rutherford County (37th fastest), reflections of the growing manufacturing and distribution industries in both places. In Rutherford, the engine is Nissan and the automotive supply chain. A host of brand names have operations in Wilson, most recently the sports apparel company Under Armour.
