1,200 Local Babies Saved This Year Thanks to Pro-Life Laws

Tennessee abortions have dropped to their lowest level since 1975, as they declined 11% in 2014, the latest year for which figures are available. That decline means 1,273 babies were saved from abortions who had been killed the year prior.

Data released by the Tennessee Department of Health shows a continued dramatic decrease in the number of abortions being sought by women residing in Tennessee. 9,861 abortions were reported in 2014 which represents an 11% decrease from the 11,134 resident abortions in 2013. This is the lowest number since 1975, just two years after Roe v. Wade allowed essentially unlimited abortions.

Leading pro-life advocates credited the passage of more pro-life laws and the work of pregnancy centers providing women with abortion alternatives with helping to save unborn children.
