Two Billion for the Terrible Titans, Plus a Possible Relocation

For months, Titans former CEO and president Tommy Smith denied a report the team was potentially for sale in 2015, but with his retirement Friday, that report is only picking up steam.

Jason Laconfora from CBSSports.com reported from the owner’s meetings in Arizona that a Titans sale is getting closer and is a “front burner” issue now for the NFL.

FedEX owner Fred Smith and hedge fund billionaire David Tepper are listed as potential suitors for the team.

Tepper owns a piece of the Pittsburgh Steelers. With assets reportedly around $10 billion, he easily has the money to buy a team that could fetch close to $2 billion.

Laconfora though went a step further throwing out a “bizarre” scenario that would have the Titans and Browns switching franchises, putting them in the hands of Jimmy Haslam.  (continue reading)
