Local Republicans Respond to Terror Threats

Waves of Mideast refugees with possible terrorist ties led to a new proposal from two Wilson County Tennessee state lawmakers.

“We want to know what the vetting process is. Are these actual terrorists we are just inviting over?” Rep. Mark Pody told News 2 on Thursday.

He continued, “I am not saying not to invite people here, but I want to make sure these are people we want to have come, hard working people who want to be Americans, and accept our way of life.”

The senate sponsor of the measure is fellow Wilson County lawmaker Mae Beavers.

“How much are these refugees costing Tennessee? You know, when you look at schooling, having to look at teaching language as a second language, and you look at food stamps housing, we want to know the breakdown,” Sen. Beavers said. (continue reading)
