Big Cat Seen in West TN

Officials with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency have launched an investigation after they received a photo showing what could be a cougar in the western part of the state.

The photo in question was apparently taken around 8 p.m. on September 20 in Obion County, located about 30 minutes northeast of Dyersburg.

The agency said the photo is currently being analyzed by experts to determine if the animal is in fact a cougar or mountain lion.

So far, they haven’t been able to recover ay tracks, hair or other evidence.

Cougars are a protected species in Tennessee and cannot be hunted or killed until a season is established by the TWRA.
