Ted Cruz to Visit Nashville

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, surging recently in several GOP presidential polls, plans to host an upcoming Nashville rally at Rocketown.

The campaign for the Texas Republican announced late Sunday that Cruz would visit Rocketown on Dec. 22, the second day of his trip through Tennessee. Doors open for the “take off with Ted Nashville Rally” at 12:30 p.m., with the program starting at 1:30 p.m.

Cruz is currently leading the crowded Republican field in Iowa, according to the latest version of The Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll. Released Saturday, the results show Cruz at 31 percent, leading business tycoon Donald Trump by 10 percentage points. Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson is in third place.

Cruz, Trump and Carson have all done well in polls of Tennessee GOP voters, and all have visited the state multiple times — Trump also recently appeared at Rocketown, a facility just south of downtown Nashville used at times for small concerts or as a skate park. (continue reading at Tennessean)
