Jets Benefited From Selective Equipment Failure in Win Over Titans

Todd Bowles wasn’t aware the Titans had headset problems Sunday when the Jets scored a touchdown on a play in which they neglected to cover Brandon Marshall.

Bowles, the Jets’ head coach, also said his team had no such communication issues during their 30-8 victory at MetLife Stadium.

“I wasn’t aware of that, and, no, our headsets didn’t go out,” Bowles said Monday.

Already leading 20-0 late in the first half, the Jets lined up for a first-and-10 from their own 31 when Marshall, their playmaking wideout, somehow had no one lined up anywhere near him at the line of scrimmage.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and center Nick Mangold recognized it, and Fitzpatrick stepped up to take a quick snap under center from Mangold before flipping the ball to Marshall, who raced the rest of the way for a laughably easy touchdown: (continue reading)
